Caring Ministries

The Caring Ministry at AUMC is just like it sounds. It is a group of people who care for and about the many people who are a part of the Annandale Church family.  It has many parts and takes many hands to provide the loving care. We welcome volunteers to help us in the many facets of this ministry.

Things we do:
  • Pray:  This not only includes praying for the folks that you see on the list that comes out every Sunday, but a phone call periodically to the person or family for updates and to provide a prayer and a kind word.
  • Send Birthday cards to those who are 80 years young and above.
  • Call and send cards to our homebound members.
  • Distribute Altar Flowers from Sunday worship.

We welcome anyone, young or old, to help with this ministry by writing cards or letters, delivering flowers, donating cards and/or postage stamps, making phone calls, planning visits or providing occasional rides.  We also welcome any ideas for more ways to show love to our AUMC family.

Supporting Our Members Through Hard Times

Being Present

Stephen Ministers are lay members of our congregation trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. Email cyndij123@verizon.net or call 571-212-8824 for this free, confidential, Christian support.

Sending Prayers

Each week, we publish the prayer list, a list of members and their friends who need prayers, in our bulletin and in a Sunday email to our members. We also have a confidential prayer chain, where specific circumstances can be emailed to a small group of members, who will hold your troubles in their minds as they offer up their prayers for you. To add a name to either list, email connect@annandale-umc.org

Offering Counseling

Annandale UMC hosts a branch of the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia. Pastoral counseling encompasses the professional approaches of traditional psychotherapy combined with the wisdom of spirituality and faith traditions. CPC has counselors at multiple locations throughout Northern Virginia including one within the Annandale UMC building, and offer Tele-Mental Health in our secure video offices.
