ESL Classes

We are seeking a volunteer to help us identify ways to bring a new English as a Second Language program to the Mission Center. Our community members tell us they are especially interested in ESL classes.

Each Tuesday and Thursday morning we pick up donated food from our grocery store and bakery partners and deliver it to the site for distribution Thursday afternoon. This requires use of some volunteers’ vehicles, loading and unloading, lifting/carrying boxes and bags of food, and stocking rolling shelves.
Preparation, distribution, and light clean up is done in two shifts on Thursday afternoons from 3-5 and 5-7 p.m.

We are only able to afford a seasonal grass cutting service to help maintain our grounds. Volunteers are also needed to do minor maintenance and repair, painting, caulking, and other tasks. The Mission Center has a part time custodian and shares one facilities maintenance person with the much larger AUMC main campus. Both are exceptional team members but can’t do everything.
We also need repair to a section of our roof. Donations of or significant discount on repair work by a licensed contractor would be very helpful.
